Speaker 1:

Hey friends, yvonne Paschal, your host here of the Be In His Purpose podcast, thanks for tuning in today.

Speaker 1:

In today's episode, we're exploring what it means to walk by faith and not by sight. So often, our human nature craves certainty and visible signs, but God invites us to trust Him in ways that go beyond what we can see. To trust Him in ways that go beyond what we can see. I'll share some stories from Scripture, some practical tips for trusting God's path and encouragement for those times when faith feels hard. You're not alone in this journey. Let's dive in together and learn to trust God's vision over our own. Tune in to the end of the podcast for some information on how you can get a hold of a free resource I am offering all of my listeners. So grab your coffee, your journal or your notebook and let's dive in friends. Hello, sisters, and welcome back to the Be In His Purpose podcast. This is Christian coaching for women overcoming their pain for purpose. I am your host, yvonne Paschal. I'm a faith and resilience coach with my business Be In His Purpose, and I'm also a certified Christian life coach, and I'm here to help you step into your God-given calling with faith, confidence and a heart ready to overcome with faith, confidence and a heart ready to overcome. Today's episode is close to my heart and I know it's a powerful message many of us need to hear. We're talking about what it means to truly walk by faith and not by sight. Now, I believe that this isn't just a nice phrase that we hear, you know, whether in church we hear from our pastor or we read in the word. I think this is it's a daily, active choice to truly trust God in ways that are going to stretch us, they're going to grow us and sometimes, yes, it's going to make us a bit uncomfortable, for sure, but it's in those very steps of faith. That's where we truly experience God's presence really the most. We get to experience him in a powerful way. So if you're in a season of uncertainty right now, or if God's calling you into something new that feels a bit overwhelming or feels like you know it might even feel impossible to do, then this episode is for you. So I really want you to tune in. So, to kick us off, let's talk about what walking by faith and not by sight really means. Let's go to scripture. Let's definitely want to start off there, in 2 Corinthians 5, 7, paul tells us, for we walk by faith, not by sight. But why is that? I know we always, you know that question comes up why? Why is that? Why does God ask us to trust him beyond what we can see? That's hard, that's just so hard.

Speaker 1:

Walking by faith, you know, really means putting our confidence in God's promises, in his word, in what he has said, even if we can't see the outcome. That's what it is. So it's really. It's about relying on his character, his words, what he has said, trusting that he is good, that he is faithful, that he loves us more than we can imagine. That's truly about holding onto that and relying on that completely, 100%. God's inviting us to believe that he knows what's best for us, even when our plans might feel safer or even easier.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, let's think about how God led Abraham right in the book of Genesis. God called him to leave his homeland and he promised him a new place and a legacy. But God didn't show him the entire path or give him all the details up front, right? God asked Abraham to trust him one step at a time, so that one step was first to leave your homeland, leave what you know. That was the first step and that's the essence of walking by faith trusting one step at a time, even when we can't see what's next or what's coming, when we can put our reliance on him to know that he knows the way, he knows the end. From the beginning he's gone ahead of us. We can let our feelings and emotions and fears we can leave that. We can leave that to him, because we're putting our full trust in the one who already knows what's going to happen before we even get there, so we can trust in the steps that he's giving us, one step at a time.

Speaker 1:

Let's bring this into our daily lives because, you know, walking by faith isn't only about big life decisions. You know, sometimes it's about trusting God in our every single day. You know challenges that we might have, or the doubts that we might face, or the struggles that we feel and the lies that the enemy tries to put and plant in our hearts. Right, it's in those everyday, everyday things that we go through, everyday things that we go through. And so maybe you're facing fear right now, maybe you're in a season where, right, god's calling you out of something or some place, or you know, there's a sense of I'm not good enough or like I don't have it all together right now. Maybe you're feeling called to something, but it doesn't make logical sense to you right now. That's exactly where God wants to step in Because, remember, by faith, walking by faith, isn't about getting it all right, all right, you know.

Speaker 1:

It's about inviting God to walk with you, you and I, and letting his truth guide you when everything else is uncertain, when you don't know the end from the beginning. Right, we don't know the end from the beginning. Only God does. We won't have the plan all laid out. We won't have the checklist, the full plan. You know, I know many of us are planners. I'm a planner. I like to have a clear direction and a clear plan of what to do. That's me and that's you, and that's most of us here, listening, tuning in. We like to have that, and God created us that way. Right, God created us. That's who we are, that's how we tend to live our lives.

Speaker 1:

But you know, this is a call to come close to him. We want things easy and sometimes just simple for us when he has called us. Sometimes we think we have to know all the answers, or that we have to have it all together, or that it has to be perfect. I have to have this perfect life before I can even take a step forward. God, no, that's not what God is, that's not what God is saying, that's not what he's asking.

Speaker 1:

You know, in Psalm 119, 105, it says your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. God doesn't light up the entire journey. He gives us just enough light for the step right in front of us. And each step that we take in obedience, he illuminates the next. He gives us a little bit more at a time. He gives us enough, just enough of what we can handle in that moment, and lights up and tells us the very next thing. Once we have taken the step, a step of obedience, and it's really, it's his way of inviting us into a closer relationship with him, because now we're truly dependent on the light. We're truly dependent on on the light, we're truly dependent on God.

Speaker 1:

Once I've taken that step right, oh man, lord, I'm trusting you here. I've taken this step of obedience, god, you've got to. You've got to take it from here. Now, like I, I don't know what I'm doing, I don't know where to go, I don't know where to turn. I don't, I don't know God. I'm doing, I don't know where to go, I don't know where to turn, I don't know God. So right now, I'm totally in reliance on him and I'm seeking him. I'm in relationship with him now, I'm praying, I'm asking right, I'm in total dependence on him and trusting his timing. On him and trusting his timing.

Speaker 1:

So how can we practically, you know, begin walking by faith, especially if it feels hard? How do we do this? If I could do it in my own strength, then it isn't God, it's us, it's me. If I have to do it, if I can do it in my own strength, it's probably not, it's probably me, it's probably not God, Because God will call us to do things that we can't do by ourselves. Why would he do that? You know because then we're totally relying on us, we're totally relying on our own strength, not seeking him, not leaning on him, not fully depending on him, not letting him be the light, right? No, it's when he's called to us to do something that is out of our own strength, then you'll know that that is God calling you, you will know.

Speaker 1:

I want to share just a personal testimony, a part of my season that I'm honestly, it's really just been in the last month that I've literally stepped out of a season before I could step into the new thing he was calling me to. There was a season that had to end. I had to, like Abraham, leave what I know, in a sense, leave what I know to step into the new, what he's calling me to. Sometimes God will do that. He will tell you literally, like I need you to leave that before I will open up this new thing I have for you, this new thing I have for you. I have just I am in. I am. I am in the new thing right now where I am walking by faith, one step at a time.

Speaker 1:

Every single day in this last month I have had to be in total dependence, reliance For God to show me the next thing Lord, tell me what to do here, like I don't know what I'm doing. I'm trusting you, I'm all in God, I'm all in and Lord, I'm walking by faith, not by sight. Right now I'm in that season. Right now I have left the old, stepped into the new, total dependence on God. But can I tell you that has been the most amazing thing. That has been one of the most amazing things that I have done in obedience to God, that I have done in obedience to God. It has brought me closer to him in this season than I've ever been and I am at I have the most peace.

Speaker 1:

You would think that I wouldn't have peace, but there is peace in the promise. When you are walking in alignment with God, when you are, in this scripture, walking by faith, not by sight, you will have a peace that surpasses all understanding. I'm a true testament of that and I can testify that right now. A peace that surpasses all understanding. There is no way a human being can have the peace that a person could have when they're walking by faith, not by sight. There's just no way in the natural that that can be possible. But can I tell you, this isn't natural. This isn't by walking by faith and not by sight isn't natural, it is supernatural.

Speaker 1:

We are walking by the spirit of God, trusting in his word and his promises and his light every single day. That is supernatural. So guess what You're going to have supernatural outcome and supernatural faith, supernatural peace, supernatural power. You're going to have that power like you're going to have that, and I'm telling you that you know, just by following some of these things that God has laid out for us. Trusting in his promises and trusting in his strength not your own you will get to the promised land. You will get to the other side of the thing that he has called you to, and there will come a day when you look back just to see the blessing and his promise come to pass Like that is something to look forward to, friends. It is something to look forward to. So here are three ways that we can get started today.

Speaker 1:

Number one we want to be grounded in his word. Scripture reminds us who God is and what he's promised. So when that doubt comes in, oh my goodness, when that doubt comes in and that spirit of fear starts to creep in, you know the enemy's trying to attack you and he's trying to tell you. What are you doing Like? Who are you? Come on, we need to be reminded. We need to remind ourselves actively. Remind ourselves of verses like Jeremiah 29, 11, where God promises he has good plans for you. Yes, he has good plans for you. Not, he may know he already has the good plans for you already worked out. Or Romans 8, 28, which says that all things work together for good. Amen and amen. Keep those verses close, write them down, keep them where you can see them. I put in a previous podcast post where writing those scriptures out, maybe even just on post-it notes, I don't care. Like me personally, we have post-it notes all around our house, in every single room, by the grace of and compassion of my daughter, and just putting that, putting them every single room in our house, let them be your anchor.

Speaker 1:

Okay, number two surrender in prayer. We need to be, we need to be in prayer. We need to give and cast our cares to God. Cast our cares to God, who hears us. He hears our every need. He knows our every need already. But when we can bring those, those cares, those, those, those worries, those fears to God, that's a huge step of surrender and being vulnerable. Yes, he already knows, but when we can vocally come to him in surrender, in prayer, which is communication to God himself, and give that to him and say, lord, I need you Like I am. I need you Like I am struggling with this. I'm giving you this, I am asking you to help me through this. I need your peace. I need, like you, tell him what you need. Tell him what you need and he won't let you down. Ask him to give you peace. Ask him for help to help you trust him. Ask him to give you the strength to strengthen your faith. Let God know your heart and where you're at, because you know what. He will meet you right where you are. I love that about God. That's one thing I love about God is he will meet you right where you are. I love that about God. That's one thing I love about God is he will meet you right where you are.

Speaker 1:

And remember, god doesn't condemn our fears or insecurities. That is condemnation. That is not of God, that is the devil. So we can trust and know there will be no condemnation and he will invite us openly, with grace and compassion and kindness and gentleness. He invites us to hand that over to him. So let's do that today. Let's start today doing these things and then, lastly, let's take some small steps of obedience today.

Speaker 1:

Why not today? You know, so often we want God to reveal the entire plan, like we were saying earlier, but he's asking us to take the first small step. Just take the first step. Maybe that step is as simple as reaching out for help. I know many of us, I know I've been there and I haven't worked this all out a hundred percent, but sometimes we got to. We got to let down the wall, sometimes Let down our pride and reach out for help, even if it's just as simple as a prayer request, asking somebody else to pray for you, being open and vulnerable and transparent to say because that's in the same way that we're surrendering that to God we need to be okay to ask for help from the people that he's put in our path. We need to be okay to ask for help from the people that he's put in our path. You know, maybe it's about just starting that project, starting that thing, taking a step, taking the first step or action that you need to do today. Maybe it's just about getting prepared. Maybe he's just calling you to. This is a season of preparation. I need you to prepare, I need you to learn. Maybe you need to read that book and learn something. Take that course, sign up for that coaching session.

Speaker 1:

Each step is an act of trust and it moves us closer to the purpose that he has for us, for us, okay. So, my sisters, walking by faith, you know, isn't a once in a lifetime decision. It's a daily choice that we have to make to say Lord, I trust you. Even if I can't see the whole path, he sees the beginning and the end and he promises to be with you through every step. You don't have to have it all figured out, you just need to trust the one who does, who knows.

Speaker 1:

Thank you for joining me today. I hope that you feel encouraged by just what we've been able to talk about here today and learn from, to take that first, or maybe it's that next step for you. Take that first, or the next step of faith, whatever it may look like for you and your season and your life right now, and remember God is for you and he is with you. So, before we close, if today's message has resonated with you, if it's helped you, I'd love for you to share this episode with a friend who might also need that encouragement or need that word today. Let's be women who lift each other up, who remind one another of God's goodness, who speak life over one another. Let's be that woman. Let's do that today. There's someone who we can encourage today. Okay, so until next time, ladies, stay strong, be encouraged and keep walking in your purpose.
