Friends, welcome back to the Be In His Purpose podcast. This is Christian coaching for women overcoming their pain for purpose. I am your host, yvonne Paschal. I'm a faith and resilience coach with my business Be In His Purpose, and I'm also a certified Christian life coach, and I'm here to help you step into your God-given calling with faith, confidence and a heart ready to overcome. So today's episode is called Faithful Through the Storm Three Keys to Trusting God in Trials.

Speaker 1:

First, let's talk about storms for a moment, because we all face them. The Bible tells us that we will go through trials and tribulations. We will face the storms, whether it's the loss of a job, maybe it's a broken relationship, maybe a health crisis, or even, you know, just the daily battle of feeling inadequate or maybe feeling overwhelmed. Those storms are inevitable Because, you know, in John 16, 33, the Bible tells us in this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world. Jesus tells us this. That's the promise that we need to cling to when we're going through that storm. We need to cling to the word of God, because trouble is part of life. It doesn't have to define us, though. What really matters is, you know, how do we respond in the midst of trials and, more importantly, who do we turn to during the trial, during that storm? So you see, we know that storms can shake us to the core, but they also have the power to strengthen us. If we allow God to work in and through them, we can come out on the other side stronger than ever before, and so that's really what God wants to do. So if you haven't checked out my earlier post on my social, where I shared a bit of my testimony. Go check that out on my page I share about. You know what God has. God has brought me through break through, to really then be set free and to step into some of the things that he's led me to do in my life. So go check that out, though.

Speaker 1:

The next thing really I want to talk about is just recognizing God's presence in the midst of the storm, because right when we're in the middle of the storm, it really can feel like in those moments probably right at the very beginning, I know, for me I'm just kind of reflecting back right at the very beginning of a storm or trial we can immediately feel like God is distant, like he's not there, he's silent. But that is far from the truth. Scripture reminds us over and over that he is with us. One of my favorite passages is in Isaiah 43, 2, that tells us when you pass through the waters. Two, it tells us when you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you Notice, it doesn't say if you pass through the waters, but when you know like but I may or may not know. We are promised that God is with us at all times. He never leaves us or forsakes us, and so, even in your storm, you can be assured he is there with you in it and he will walk you through it, he will guide you through it, he will be right there with you in it. So that's something of comfort that we can hold on to at any time we are facing a trial or a storm. God doesn't promise, though, to remove every storm right, but he promises his presence in it, and his presence changes everything. It gives us peace that surpasses understanding, and it gives us a strength we didn't know we had right.

Speaker 1:

You ever come out of a trial or a storm and you're wondering, oh, my goodness, like, how in the world did I walk through that? Oh yeah, that's right. God was with me. God gave me the strength to go through that. He gave me the grace to walk through that right. So we need to reflect on that and know that he is with us even in the storm.

Speaker 1:

So I want us to take a moment just to reflect right. What? What is if we're, if you're, going through a storm right now? What? What storm are you currently facing? I want you to ask yourself have you invited God into it, because he's there, ready to guide you, even when you can't see the way forward. And sometimes we just need to pause and listen for his still small voice. He's always right, he's, he's always speaking, he's always, he's always there and he's always speaking. But there are times when we really need to get still, get quiet, get alone with God, be intentional with that time of intimacy with him, because it's in those places where we are going to be able to hear him the most.

Speaker 1:

So I want to talk about now just some of those, those practical steps to trust God's faithfulness in the midst of your storm. So let's get practical. You know, how do we trust God's faithfulness in the middle of that? So I want to give you three keys that you can implement today, and so number one is we need to anchor ourselves in God's word. The Bible is full of promises about his faithfulness. So when that fear and that doubt creep in, we've got to combat that with the word of truth. There's a powerful verse in Lamentations 3.22 and through 23, where it says the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. So we need to take time each day to meditate on a verse, a scripture that we can hold on to and that reminds of us of his goodness. We have to do that. It is critical that we anchor ourselves in the word.

Speaker 1:

Number two is we need to speak life over our situation. Oh, my goodness, this is something I've had to work through for a long time. To speak life over my situation, to speak really life in any situation. I've had to work through that, but the Lord has brought me through from glory to glory. He's changing me every single day in that. But there is power in your words, right? The Bible tells us this the tongue has the power of life and death. So, instead of speaking fear or frustration, which we can easily do by default, we need to say things like he will never leave me nor forsake me, or this storm is not the end, right, god is with me, he is for me, he is not against me, he can use this for good, because what the enemy meant for evil, god can use for good. So we need to speak life, not death, over our situation. And, number three, we need to be in prayer and surrender the outcome to god. You know, storms often will bring different emotions in us. Um a lot of times because we want control right, and if we're not careful we can think we have control over the situation but we don't. God is in control.

Speaker 1:

So Philippians 4, 6 through 7 reminds us do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving that's good With thanksgiving, present your request to God and the peace of God will guard your hearts and minds. So we need to take time to pray and release those things and your fears. Cast your cares on the Lord, right. He tells us we can do that. Release your fears to God. Release it that's an action verb. Release Because it's not meant for us to carry, it was never meant for us to carry. We need to release that to God, who can take that and guide us through the storm. We need to trust that he is working behind the scenes for our good Every single time, every single time.

Speaker 1:

So I want to close with this that, no matter what storm you're walking through right now, I want you to know this God is faithful, he is absolutely faithful, 100%. You can count on him, you can rely on him with everything. He is faithful, everything he is faithful, and I know there are many here listening that will listen maybe later or that are listening, tuning in now that can testify to the faithfulness of God. There are many in this world who have gone through lots of hard things in life, experienced a lot of pain, and have come out on the other side to testify of God's faithfulness and goodness. He was there all along. He never left me. He never left me in that mess. No, he is right there with you and he will bring you through it.

Speaker 1:

Okay, sometimes the storm is his way of drawing us closer to him, teaching you, teaching us to rely on him completely. Have you ever noticed that? Have you ever noticed how much closer, right, if you're walking with the Lord? You surrendered your life to him. You go through a trial of how much it brought you to him right? You began to pray more. You began to get in your word more. You began to hear him and ask for direction and guidance. God give me wisdom, direction and guidance. God give me wisdom. Look back on those times and you will see that it has brought you closer to God. It's those times when we are brought closer to him and so sometimes you know he's drawing us closer to him, in relationship with him, so to teach us that he is in control. He's got this.

Speaker 1:

Psalm 46.10 says be still and know that I am God. 4610 says be still and know that I am God. So maybe today is your moment to be still, to lay down your striving and to trust that God is working all things together for your good. Let me leave you with this thought the storm you're facing today is preparing you for the purpose God has, for he will use it at some point along your path. Remember he never wastes anything and he will use it for good. Your breakthrough is coming through, is coming. Your healing is already with you. Okay, because we are overcomers by the blood of the Lamb. He tells us in his word that he's already conquered death. All right, so we are conquerors because we have Christ in us. So we are conquerors because we have Christ in us. So I want you to just take hold of that thought. Trust him, lean into his faithfulness and let him lead you to his peace. No matter what comes your way, he is the anchor. What comes your way, he is the anchor.
