What Did God Gift You?
Finding Your Purpose Series- Session 1
Have you been searching high and low for your purpose, only to feel more confused and frustrated? The revelation that changes everything is startlingly simple: your purpose isn't "out there" waiting to be discovered—it's already within you.
This eye-opening exploration takes us deep into Romans 12:6, revealing how our gifts aren't random coincidences but divinely appointed tools specifically chosen for each of us. Through a practical four-step approach, you'll learn how to recognize what God has already deposited in you. From identifying natural talents that bring you joy to understanding your spiritual gifts designed for kingdom impact, this roadmap guides you toward the intersection where your identity and assignment meet.
The journey begins with honest self-reflection about what comes naturally to you and where others consistently seek your help. We then explore how assessments like StrengthsFinder can put language to your innate abilities, whether they're in communication, strategy, relationship-building, or other areas. Your spiritual gifts—perhaps teaching, prophecy, encouragement, or administration—extend beyond church walls into every sphere of life, evolving as you grow in Christ.
Most powerfully, you'll discover why comparison derails purpose and how even "small" gifts fulfill crucial roles in God's grand design. True fulfillment comes not from chasing external success but from faithfully stewarding what's already in your hands. When you use your unique combination of gifts for God's glory, your purpose naturally unfolds, bringing clarity and satisfaction to your spiritual journey. If you're ready to stop searching and start seeing what God already placed within you, this message will transform your understanding of divine purpose.

What if the reason you feel stuck, confused or frustrated about your purpose is because you've never truly discovered what God already put inside of you? See, most people are searching for their purpose out there, but the truth is, your purpose starts with what's already in your hands. God has already gifted you. Now it's time to find out how. So let's go back to the word In Romans 12, 6,. It says we have different gifts according to the grace given to each of us. That means your gifts aren't random. They're intentional. They were hand picked by God for your assignment here on earth. So the question is do you know what yours are? Let's walk through four steps. That's going to help you discover them. So step one is to write it down. I want you to ask yourself. One is to write it down. I want you to ask yourself what am I naturally good at? What lights me up? You know, what gives you joy and what do people always ask me for help with. That's a good one to look at. Look back in your life of what do people, what have people come to you typically for? Like there's a pattern where they you know they tend to always come to you for this or for that. Write that down and don't overthink it, because God speaks through patterns.
Speaker 1:Step two is to take a strengths assessment. Okay, so there's many of these out online, different strength assessments that you can find out on the web. One that I have taken personally is what's called the Strength Finders Assessment, and these aren't spiritual, okay, but they help you put language to your natural strengths. So you might find that you're wired for communication or strategy or leadership, and those are clues, like for me, when I took the Strength Finder assessment, which was probably well over well, it's probably been six, seven years now, but you know my top five, like, I still have wrote out to this day and I have them visible to me, like right now I'm I'm able to look at directly at them right now they're by my computer. And so the number one strength that I, that God has given me, the natural strength, is called input and basically information. So, like, I love to take in and learn information, learning new things and then sharing it with others. So that's input. Number two strength is strategic. So I tend to think strategically when I'm doing things. My number third strength is relator. I tend to want to relate with people. I have a just a natural way of relatability. My number four strength is developer and number five is responsibility. So those are mine. If you feel led to share yours with me after taking an assessment, feel free to comment below to share yours with me after taking an assessment, feel free to comment below, leave a comment in the podcast or send me an email. I'd love to hear from you. But after you've taken your assessment, take a look at the top five of your strengths, write them down, make it right, write the vision, make it plain. But I want you to you know, make sure that you have them near you, where you can see them, and you can come to them every now and again to be reminded. But write them down and take hold of them, and then I want you to analyze them. You know, how have you seen these play out in your life up to this point? It's going to be really cool for you to see how these have played a role in your life.
Speaker 1:Step number three is to then take a spiritual gifts assessment so you can find these also online. Out there on the web, there's many of them out there. The one that I have used personally is at spiritualgiftstestcom and I'll also make sure to leave that in the show notes down below as well. So this is where it gets kingdom, okay. In first Peter, 4.10, it says each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others. So your spiritual gifts, you know they might include teaching, prophecy, encouragement, administration, healing, intercession, so there's many more than that. But this is good and this is key. You want to definitely tap into and understand what are your spiritual gifts, and I've also learned that you you'll want to take a spiritual gifts assessment, not just one time in your life, like you're going to want to take these maybe every year, every other year, because, as you're growing and becoming more into the image of Christ, right, which is the ultimate goal, that your spiritual gifts right, the Lord may deposit or strengthen a spiritual gift in a particular season, right, where one is now not being tapped into much, but now he's trying to pull out another one or he's trying to download and grow another one in you, and so seasons change and so do spiritual gifts. So definitely keep that in mind.
Speaker 1:But these gifts aren't just for church services, right? Yes, we want to be pouring and building up the body of Christ, but these are, honestly, they're for ministry. So ministry is wherever we go, right, we are all ministers. If you're a believer in Christ, you're a minister. They're for your job, they're for your family, they're for your community. Wherever you go, god gave them to you to impact people for eternity and to bring him glory and honor. Eternity. And to bring him glory and honor.
Speaker 1:And step number four is to connect the dots. So here's where you're going to ask yourself where do my talents, strengths, gifts, overlap? Where do I see a common thread and they're overlapping each other? What's the common thread? Identify it. And also, where have I seen God move most powerfully through me? I want you to ask yourself those questions and try to put the pieces together.
Speaker 1:So far, this is only session one of the Finding your Purpose series, but this is a great starting place. So this is how you will begin to align your identity with your assignment, your identity in Christ with your assignment, and don't compare. Here's the thing. We don't want to compare our gift to somebody else's right, because what God has given us uniquely is set up purposefully, divinely, for a purpose, and so what I have that he's gifted me is for a purpose, and it's to glorify him and honor him and serve others. Well, and it's for an assignment, right? So what I have you don't, you may not have, and that's set up in a way, because you're going to do something different maybe than what I'm going to be doing, god's assigned you for something that may look different from me. So we don't want to compare, okay, and don't downplay what feels small.
Speaker 1:Your gifts are tools for a God-sized purpose. So now that you've got some tools in your tool belt so now that you've got some tools in your tool belt, you know you've done the strength assessment you're going to take the spiritual gifts test. You're going to journal and reflect on everything that you've discovered and put down. Then you want to pray. You want to pray to the Lord. God, show me what you've placed in me, make it clear, make it known, make it visible to me, show me what you want me to do with the gifts that you have given me, right, and give him honor and praise. Lord, thank you, thank you for the gifts that you have given me, and I just pray that you reveal to me how you want me to use these for your honor and glory.
Speaker 1:Because here's the truth you don't find your purpose by chasing success, you don't. You find it by stewarding the gifts God already gave you. And when you start using those gifts for his glory, you will unlock your purpose. You're going to unlock the assignment on your life, the calling on your life, and you're going to be more full. You're going to be fulfilled because you're walking in the very thing that God ordained and created you for. I hope this has blessed you. So I want you to, if you haven't already follow, subscribe.
